This past Sunday, I took a class on Editorial Hairstyling at the Cinta Aveda Institute. The instructor was Allen Ruiz, a NAHA winner, internationally published stylist and Aveda Global Guest Artist and Purefessional. The class was inspiring and challenging, especially when we worked on executing “the perfect ponytail”. Mine wasn’t quite at perfection level yet, but I thought it was a strong showing for a first time try at this. (Especially if you know how wretched mannequin head hair is.) And trust me, this is no “I didn’t have time to wash my hair before work today” sad excuse for a ponytail. We’re talking sleek, slick, smooth and polished; runway ready and magazine quality. The technique was spot-on so it’s just a matter of practice, practice, practice. I look forward to finishing some of my clients this way if they’re heading out to an event and want a sheek, classic, elegant look for the evening.
